The authorities of the United States and Israel have agreed to mutually counteract hackers using extortion software.
The US and Israeli authorities have reached agreements on cooperation in the fight against hackers using ransomware viruses, as well as in the field of ensuring the security of financial infrastructure. This was reported by the press service of the US Treasury Department.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between US Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo and Israeli Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman and Israel's National Cyber Governance Director General Yigal Unnoy. It is noted that cooperation between the two countries will be aimed at "protecting critical financial infrastructure and new technologies", as well as "countering the threat posed by ransomware for countries and the world economy."
The money-extorting software is making it difficult for the global economy to recover, fueled by measures taken to curb the spread of the coronavirus, Adeyemo said.
The ministerial meeting took place in Israel. In addition to the heads of government agencies, heads of the service dealing with the fight against cybercrime took part in it.
