A new database of confidential information for more than 39 million French people is being sold on the darknet. This was announced to Midi Libre by Zataz's cybersecurity specialist Damien Benkal.

According to Bankal, the database for sale contains names, surnames, postal addresses, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses. For review, the hacker presented the stolen data of 100,000 people.

The expert believes that the data for sale came from various sources and was already available on the dark web. The main problem, according to the expert, is that users whose data has been "leaked" can become victims of phishing and fraudulent campaigns.

In addition, cybercriminals can use stolen data to carry out brute force attacks or dictionary attacks. Using special software, hackers will try a huge number of combinations and ultimately guess the victim's personal password.
