Operators of the ransomware REvil, also known as Sodinokibi, have reported hacking into the computer systems of Brown-Forman Corporation, one of the largest alcoholic beverage producers in the United States, which owns brands such as Jack Daniel's and Finlandia.

According to the group, they managed to steal 1 TB of confidential data from the company's network, including information about employees, contracts, financial documents and internal correspondence. The hackers said they had been studying the company's internal computer infrastructure for a month.

As evidence of the hack, the group posted on its website, where it posts fragments of stolen documents, a series of screenshots showing folders, company-owned files, and internal conversations between company employees. The amount of the required ransom is not indicated.

In a statement to Bloomberg, Brown-Forman admitted the cyberattack, but noted that the encryption of the systems was prevented. The company also noted that it did not enter into negotiations with the attackers.
