A 19-year-old student of one of the Kiev universities was exposed by law enforcement officers on the trade in personal data of Ukrainians.

According to the Cyber Police, the suspect created a bot in the messenger to sell confidential and other information with limited access.

Access to the bot cost one dollar a day, or four dollars for 20 attempts to search for data on specific individuals. The defendant received payment on a crypto-wallet.

It was found that the student also developed and implemented a mechanism for searching data from photographs of people using artificial intelligence. He downloaded images from open sources on the Internet.

At his disposal were databases of several tens of millions of citizens. He bought this information on thematic hacker forums.

During searches at the place of residence of a Kiev resident, cyber police discovered databases that were compromised between 2014 and 2019. They contained dates of birth, last names, first names and patronymics of citizens, series and numbers of passports, individual tax numbers of taxpayers and telephone numbers, photographs, and so on.

Currently, computer-technical examinations are being carried out.

Criminal proceedings have been opened under Part 2 of Art. 361-2 (unauthorized sale or dissemination of information with limited access) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
