The potential threat of interception of users' personal data, as well as the ability to gain access to their smartphones for the Chinese authorities, exists.

Analysts at the US Central Intelligence Agency have found no evidence that the Chinese authorities received data from TikTok users, the New York Times reported.

At the request of the White House, intelligence officials examined the application and concluded that it poses no threat to national security. However, this did not stop Donald Trump from issuing an order in which the US "must take aggressive action" against the owners of WeChat and TikTok in order to "protect national security."

The CIA analyst risk assessment is the latest in a series of initiatives taken by US officials to separate Chinese tech companies from US users for national security reasons. US lawmakers are concerned that the Chinese government may gain access to American users' data through apps such as TikTok.
Analysts came to the conclusion that the potential threat of interception of personal data of users, as well as the ability to gain access to their smartphones for the Chinese authorities exists. However, there is no evidence that this happened.
