The German programmer was able to hack the server of the distributor of the Bitcoin ransomware virus called Muhstik after paying 0.09 BTC to the attacker for accessing the files.

According to the Bleeping Computer forum , programmer Tobias Fromel, under the nickname battleck, said that he was able to get the entire database of encryption keys, as well as a decryptor program from the virus distributor. He posted all the data found for free on the network.

Fromel admits that his actions are illegal, but given that the virus distributor also used hacked servers, he called himself “not the worst” in this situation. He also said that he had to pay a ransomware to decrypt Bitcoin data in the amount of € 670.

In the topic on the forum, which is dedicated to the Muhstik virus, users confirmed that all the laid out computer identifiers, as well as keys with the decoder, work.
