The arrests took place in 11 provinces, some of the detainees were minors. 40 people were detained by Turkish police during an operation against scammers using the popular streaming service Twitch, Dailysabah reported. For the first time, information about the Turkish scandal appeared in November 2021. Then it turned out that many local streamers are helping scammers to launder money by buying Bits on Twitch from stolen credit cards. Influencers returned 70-80% of their profits to them. According to the DHA (Demirören News Agency), minors and e-sportsmen were also involved in the scheme. In particular, the world champion in Valorant Mehmet "cNed" Yagiz Ipek was implicated in the scandal.

Recall that the criminal scheme was noticed after a large-scale leak of data of Twitch users in early October. Viewers noticed that there are several video bloggers in the database with a small audience making too large amounts of money on the Bits currency. After that, the Turkish Cybercrime Department took over the fraudsters.
