The Russian multinational company Yandex for the first time published a report on transparency, in which it spoke about the number of requests from government agencies for user data.

In the first half of 2020 alone, government agencies sent more than 15.3 thousand requests to the company, 84% of which were satisfied by Yandex (in 2.4 thousand cases the company refused to do this). According to Russian law, the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other law enforcement agencies can submit a request to any company to provide user data in cases where they are needed as part of operational search work.

Most of all, the state is interested in users of the services "Yandex.Mail" and "Yandex.Passport". In the first six months, the company received 8.8 thousand applications from the authorities and satisfied 7.7 thousand of them. Yandex.Passport is a service for managing your Yandex account and stores all important personal data of the user: first and last name, phone number, information about linked bank cards, account authorization history and information about devices linked accounts in social networks, etc. The

company can provide access to the correspondence of Yandex.Mail users only by court order.

The Yandex.Taxi service ranked second in terms of the number of requests from government agencies - in the first six months the authorities sent 5.2 thousand requests, of which the company satisfied 4.1 thousand.
