TikTok has agreed to pay $ 92 million to settle a class action lawsuit over alleged privacy breaches. According to the plaintiffs, the application collected "highly sensitive personal data" in order to track users and display advertisements, writes The Verge. Representatives of TikTok deny the accusations against the service, but do not want to waste time on legal proceedings and are ready to resolve everything amicably.

The settlement brings together 21 class action lawsuits against TikTok for a range of alleged privacy breaches. The lawsuit contains several substantive claims, ranging from analyzing users' faces to determine their ethnicity, gender and age, to alleged violations of the US Computer Fraud and Abuse Act in connection with the transfer of personal data. Nearly all US users will be included in the settlement.

As part of the settlement, TikTok has agreed to avoid certain actions that may compromise the privacy of users, unless disclosure is required by the service's privacy policies. In particular, TikTok has promised to stop storing biometric information, collecting GPS data and clipboard, as well as sending and storing user data from the United States outside the country.
