Google intends to make changes to the way Google Drive cloud storage works to restrict access to files that violate company policy. These files include, but are not limited to, materials containing hate speech, explicit content, malware and misinformation.

Under the new rules, files that violate the policy will be flagged and automatically restricted. This means that the owner will not be able to share them, even if the other user has a link. In this case, users will have the opportunity to request a review of the decision.

The tech giant also reserved the right to review controversial content and take appropriate action, including "restrict user access to content, remove content, and restrict or revoke user access to Google products." It is assumed that in the case of illegal materials, the company will inform law enforcement agencies.

The purpose of the new changes is to prevent abuse of Google Drive services, although it is not yet clear how severe the restrictions will be and what Google will do if a file is mistakenly flagged as malicious.
