"Employees of the Department of Cyber Police, together with investigators of the NPU, under the procedural leadership of the prosecutor’s office, exposed individuals in the creation and administration of online cinemas," the statement said.

In particular, in Kiev, the cyber police exposed the resident of the capital, born in 1982, in creating four online cinemas and violating copyright and related rights of copyright holders of audiovisual works. Human activities were aimed at users from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Moldova.

In addition, in the Cherkasy region, cyber police stopped the illegal activities of a local resident, born in 1988, who created and administered one online movie theater.

"The defendant provided users with access to the library of feature films, animated films and TV shows without the corresponding permits of the copyright holders," the report said.

The defendants received profit from advertising placed on web resources. Payment for advertising was received on e-wallets of the payment system prohibited in Ukraine.

Law enforcement officers conducted searches in the capital and in the Cherkasy region, which resulted in the seizure of computer equipment, mobile phones, flash drives, hard drives, bank cards and other physical evidence.

On these facts, criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 176 (violation of copyright and related rights) of the Criminal Code. The defendants face imprisonment for a term of three to six years.
