Unlike American accomplices, 19-year-old Mason Sheppard remains at large.

Mason Sheppard, 19, who was accused of participating in a massive Twitter hack, has never been arrested.

As a reminder, Sheppard, also known as Chaewon, is one of the hackers involved in the recent hacking of celebrity Twitter accounts. On July 31 of this year, the US authorities brought charges against him and two of his accomplices from the United States - 17-year-old Graham Ivan Clark, who carried out the hack himself, and 22-year-old Nima Fazeli.

As reported to The Register in the press service of the UK National Crime Agency (National Crime Agency, NCA), law enforcement officers only visited Sheppard at his place of residence, but did not arrest him.

“The agency supported the US investigation, and on Friday, July 31, NCA and Southeast Regional Office for Organized Crime officers searched real estate in Bognor Regis, West Sussex. We continue to liaise with the US authorities, ”said an NCA spokeswoman.

According to the indictment published by the Department of Justice, after the Twitter hack received a lot of publicity, the British offered his American accomplices to voluntarily surrender to the police. According to prosecutors, Chaewon acted as an intermediary, selling access to hacked accounts and short usernames, for which the demand is extremely high.

Unlike Sheppard, Clark has been taken into custody and is currently at the Hillsborough County Jail in Florida. The hearing in his case took place online on Wednesday, August 5, and was extremely fast. The fact is that the broadcast of the trial on Zoom was sabotaged by malefactors who continually interrupted the broadcast with loud music, their own videos and even pornography.
