As a result of a large-scale investigation, German law enforcement officials managed to disable one of the largest online child pornography platforms on the darknet. The Boystown platform has been active since at least June 2019 and had over 400,000 subscribers.

During the law enforcement operation, four German citizens were detained (one man was detained in Paraguay) at the age of 40-64. Three of them presumably performed functions of Boystown administrators, and the fourth is suspected of being a paid subscriber of the platform and one of its most active users with more than 3.5 thousand publications.

The investigation, led by German law enforcement agencies, lasted several months. It was attended by Europol, as well as law enforcement agencies of the Netherlands, Sweden, Australia, USA and Canada.

Boystown provided a place for its subscribers to post pornographic material involving minors, including "the most serious sexual abuse of young children." The platform also provided several channels for user communication, and the administration instructed subscribers how to access the site in the safest way, cover their tracks and avoid criminal prosecution.
