In Sevastopol, police detained an attacker who stole 2 million rubles from a bank cell, the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry said.
“The employees of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Sevastopol as a result of operational-search measures detained a 43-year-old man who is suspected of stealing two million rubles from a bank cell,” the ministry said in a statement.
It was established that a local resident sold her apartment and, for the safety of the proceeds, decided to use the services of a financial institution where she rented a safe deposit box. Having learned about this, one of the bank employees entered the vault and stole money.
The attacker hid the money in the city cemetery under the tombstone of an abandoned grave. He did not have time to spend them - the police detained him, took the money and returned them to the owner.
A criminal case has been opened against the suspect on the grounds of a crime under Part 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. A preliminary investigation is ongoing.
