In broad daylight, he opened the machines in a shopping center, took the cassettes with money and calmly left . In early April 2020, an unknown person stole more than 20 million rubles from one of the shopping centers in Penza. At the same time, everything that happened was filmed by surveillance cameras. So, on the records you can see how in broad daylight an old man in the form of a collector approaches the device. Using a special key, he opens an ATM, picks up cassettes with money and calmly leaves.

In search of this old robber, the police went to a 39-year-old city dweller. According to law enforcement authorities, everything came together, except for the appearance of the attacker. The riddle was uncovered when the suspect’s apartment was searched. They found and seized an old man’s latex mask, with which the alleged ATM ripper set up a criminal masquerade for the police. Also in the apartment they found the form of a collector, special equipment for opening ATMs. The stolen millions were found in the cache.

- It was established that the detainee was previously involved in the maintenance of payment terminals and ATMs and knew them well. The attacker prepared for the crime in advance. He bought the mask in an online store, and the man sewed a bag for the size of the cassettes of the ATM himself. For conspiracy while driving a private car, the suspect used fake state registration plates of the vehicle, said the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk.

On the facts of the adventures of this false collector, a criminal case was opened under the article “Theft”. Now he is detained and the police are establishing whether he was involved in other similar crimes.
