Malicious software was distributed by disguising it as a popular application for mobile devices. After downloading the application on the smartphones of the victims, malware was automatically downloaded, which provided criminals with access to the mobile banking system. The attacker managed to steal about 75 thousand rubles.

During the operational-search activities, police officers found that a previously convicted 31-year-old resident of the city of Krasnoyarsk was involved in the theft of money from residents of the Chuvash Republic, transferring funds from user accounts to accounts and cards of criminals.

Field investigators detained the young man. As a result of a search conducted by police at the suspect's place of residence, computer equipment, hard drives, flash drives, telephones and SIM cards were found and seized.

Investigators of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Kanashsky District of the Republic of Chuvashia investigated and sent to court a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Article 273 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Creating, Using and Distributing Malicious Computer Programs”. The Kanashsky District Court sentenced the defendant to 2 years probation.
